Immunity. Are you immune to blessing? How about disaster? Maybe every situation is just a situation, not purposely meant to be a blessing or disaster. Take for instance, Jack wants to bring his wife and children to the East Coast Park for an afternoon of cycling and family bonding time, so he prays for sunny day. Jenny lives in Marine Parade, and on a hot afternoon, she's praying for rain to cool down the island. If you were God, whose prayer would you answered?
One of my friend's house in Melaka got broken into. The robber took a laptop and 2 external hard disk. He and his wife were devout Christian. Every Wed evening, he open up with house for bible discussion. He is a good man. So why him, there are hundred of houses in the vicinity.
God teaches us how to pray thru the bible. And in a prayer, thanksgiving is included. It is easier for us to take note of bad things that happened in our life and we forget about the blessing. Who provide you with good health? Why should your bodily function properly? What if your heart just decided to give itself a break? Afterall, it has been working unceasingly since the day you were formed in your mother's womb. Who gave you legs to provide you with such great mobility to get around almost everywhere you want to?
Therefore, sometimes I feel like praying is unfathomable. When I pray, I don't always pray have full confidence of my prayer. Because I don't believe that ALL prayers are meant to be answered. God is certainly not a genie in a bottle. Some prayers will be answered but at a time table that doesn't synchronize with yours. I pray to communicate with God, and he speaks to me thru the holy spirit. Prayer teaches me to rely on God; To admit that I am weak and He is strong and that I need him, I am dependent on him.
So the reason for this entry is this- I've been going thru challenges in life and so my prayer becomes prevalent. I prayed for a lot of things with I didn't get. In fact in turns out almost the way I pray for it to NOT happen. Just hang in there. I know that God has a message for me. And I believe He's molding me in the process. Man, I hate the process. Ok, I'll stop complaining.
