Radio Aids exam.

By God's grace, I passed my Radio Aids exam. What a relieve. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me. Now I can concentrate on my CA2 exams in Nov and of course my flying.

Back to flying phase

Finally, after 4 months grounded due to CA6 exams, I get to fly with my instructor this afternoon. I was quite scared prior to the flight. On 1 hand I was hoping that the flight be postpone as late as possible. On the other hand I also wants to get my hands on the control column and to get off the ground. It’s a dilemma.

The flight turns out good. I was controlling the aircraft subconsciously just like how a driver drives a car or a cyclist rides his bike. I don’t remember every single detail like some of the radio call and certain checks that I was able to carry out by memory in the past.

After the flight, my instructor encouraged me. I did most of the stuff right- Medium turns, steep turns, clean and dirty stalls, and approach configuration stall. When I was asked to carry out the Precautionary Forced Landing, I told my instructor that I’m not familiar with the procedures. She patiently walked me thru the procedure step by step. I was very grateful for that.

It’s encouraging to know that in life you win some and you lose some. You may be good at these but weak at others. I felt a part of me comes alive after the good flight.

DCAT exam

Tomorrow is DCAT exam, it is held at Putrajaya, 133km north of Melaka. Have to drive up there by our own vehicle. After exam on Wed, it's time for party. Hmmm, but what is there to do in KL??? Get stuck in the notorious jam for hours? Not a very appealing idea. Maybe we'll go Mid Valley to shop or watch movie.

Exam and test

Last week was crazy. Barely 3 weeks in the academy we were already sitting for test and exam. (Test are not recorded, exams are hence more important). I don't even have time to sleep.

One of the subjects, I score 95%. I was please with the results until I found out that I got the lowest point in the class for that subject (3 other student also scored 95). Very stressful and competitive... Talk about Kiasu and Kaisi, I think Singapore might not be on the top of the chart.

Road test result

I know this is funny but I failed my road test because I am driving much slower than the posted speed limit.

Also, I was faulted for waiting too long on making left turns. My examiner said that on many occasion, I didn't cross the intersection when I should be. I was just trying to give more space and be extra caution. Isn't safety the no. 1 priority on the road? sigh...

Overall, I think I am too cautious. I should have been more aggressive. The truth is, there are disparity between road test driving and in-the-real-life driving.
