Some friendship remains the same, even if you only meet once a year. Such is my friendship with Dee and Leon.
Many years ago, Dee and I were young and inexperience and we were co-leading a small group in the church. She is such a joyful person while I was the fierce and regimental partner. Whenever I think of a person who is joyful in all occasion, Dee would be the person that comes to my mind.
Our last few meetings had been held at their place, but since Dee and Leon are so fond of moving house, my memories of their house are all different. Punggol, Bedok Reservoir and now Haig Road. I wonder would that have any impact on the little ones. Maybe they'll grow up thinking "Life is nomadic". Which is so true. Life on earth is temporary, our eternal home is heaven. Oh, new bedtime stories for the kids.
Dinner was generous. Thanks for Dee and Leon's mums (both of them were there). I love the prawn, duck, chicken and white carrot soup. Sorry the vegetable is not my favourite because of the Dou Ghee. It has a very strong taste that covers everything that's stir-fried with it.
I didn't know that I'm in for some surprise. I'm getting a birthday celebration! It was 3 weeks earlier and I love the surprise. But more so, it was the company that makes a gigantic difference. I went to the washroom and when I came out. Viola!! the log cake was on the tables. Leah and Darius sang the loudest birthday song among us. We love the cake, it was beautiful and delicious.
Then there were performance after dinner. Leah is so natural when it comes to dancing. To Leah, the world is her stage. According to Dee and Leon, she could break into a dance anywhere. Sometimes in the middle of NTUC, all she needs is disco music to turn on the dance mode. Gosh, her sense of rhythm will put some of us adults to shame. She was totally out of herself. We were so pleased and entertained. Thank you Leah.
It's time to take our leave. Leah needs to stop dancing before she gets too hype up for bed tonight. But we know that she can go on as long as the music continue playing.
Then reality hits us. We are now in the East, it'll take at least 1 hour to get home. But I have no complain, I love the East. East is the best!.
