This Tuesday evening, my grandma (paternal) passed away peacefully at home (my uncle's house). Grandma was 88. I realize our 4 generation family is now 3 generation. I've moved up from the 3rd generation to the 2nd generation.
Recently, lky turn 90. In a st article, it says. : "in nine decades, he has lived through the Great Depression, the Japanese Occupation, the Malayan Emergency, merger and separation, and Singapore's journey from Third World to First World"
Unfortunately, I wasn't close to grandma. So I wonder at this point, what did she go thru, how was she like? To my shame, I can't even remember having an interaction with her. So perhaps next few days at the funeral wake, it's a great opportunity to ask my parents and uncle and aunty how is grandma like.
One last thing to add, just before the coffin was closed, we were given a chance to say something to her. I said to grandma "thank you, grandma" (for all she has done for the family, raising my dad and 7 siblings).
