Hi brothers, I attended a bible discussion yesterday. One of my instructors (Don Lazarus) is a devoted christian, he opens up his house (5 mins walk from school) every Wed at 6pm for bible discussion.

I've been attending this discussion for couple of months already. I enjoy the session most of the time as I learned from the word of God. Just on Monday, we had a BBQ session. There were about 20 of us and we had a little bible sharing before eating. I was in charge of setting up the fire and grilling the food. It was very enjoyable. Most of us are students from my school and a couple of Don's friend from his church in Melaka.

Yesterday, I went for the Wed meeting. The discussion was taken from John 1:35-51. I was very convicted by Jesus calling of his disciple. Interesting, we were ask if we could recite the 12 names of Jesus and none of us could. It can be found in Acts 1:13. (anyway, I can only find 11 names there, including Judas)

Peter,
John,
James,
Andrew,
Philip,
Thomas,
Bartholomew,
Matthew,
James (son of Alphaeus),
Simon (the Zealot), and
Judas (son of James)

The point is this- Most of the 12 disciples are not mention by name in the bible. It's ok that we are not recognise by the world or by the church. Many of these disciple done tremendous things in the name of Jesus. Tradition has it that, except for John, none of the disciples died a natural death.

2nd Point- Calling of the 12 disciples.

I was disturbed when I read this passage. I compare my enthusiasm to that of the disciple and I realise I don't have the same excitement and enthusiasm when it comes to telling people about Jesus. I share my thoughts during the discussion and it spun off into a 30 mins discussion, and that was very good. Since most of us are from different background and church (Methodist, Catholic etc) there were different opinion on how to share our faith. But 1 point that strikes me the most is this-  We are letter of recommendation for Christ.

2 Corinthians 3

1Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? 2You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. 3You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
We need to practice what we preached. People are watching how we live our lives as disciple, especially challenging times.

Roman 10
14
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

We need to open our mouth and talk to people about Christ. It can be anyone you know or do not know.
