Just last Friday, I came back from visit Nami's parents in Fukui. I wanted to write about this trip but I don't even know where to start.
I love Fukui. When Nami told me it's a countryside, I was thinking how countryside can Japan be? Now that I've experience it. Yes, Fukui is as lovely as any countryside can be. With an hours drive, we can access to the sea and the mountain.
Japan is almost perfect in my opinion. In terms of technology and transport system, it is advance. In terms of civic mindedness, people are very considerate and polite. What touches me most is the human love that person has for each other. Sorry to say this, I find that Asian generally excel in this area better that western country. In the case of Japan, it is outstanding.
Take for instance Nami's family. Family ties are tight. They really love one another. It was an eye opener for me. In fact, I was enlightened on how family should be. Although this is the first time they met me, I received so much love from Nami's family. I was treated like a family member.
Most of Nami's friends are in Osaka, we were fortunate to get time with them despite the tight schedule. Once again, I was loved by the Osaka church so much. I was of course blown away but the love they have for Nami. I can only imagine how difficult it is for Nami to leave Osaka for Singapore.
I have many opportunity to talk to Nami. And those times together are precious to me. Even a short walk to the grocery store can be so memorable. We went to the dinosaur musuem, drive along the coast near the famous Toujinbo, bought and ate the famous Echizen crabs, explore Kanazawa on bicycle, made Gyoza in the kitchen, morning prayers in the car, bento lunch at the back of Honda Fit, guided tour thru Ninja Dera and more. All those are great memories that I'll hold dear to my heart.
