One of the most significant and insignificant thing this week is my deliberate decision to stay away from Facebook. The experience was good - I spent less time staring at my phone, paid more attention to my surrounding, and I connect better with people.
FB has been taking up a lot of my time. I use it on my smart phone everywhere I go. Whenever I get online at home, I also spend a considerable amount of time there. There is something about facebook that keeps you going back to it. I suppose it's human inert desire to connect with one another. But can we really connect on Facebook?
I've come to a conclusion that FB is your public image to the rest of the world. Whatever was posted was a piece of you or something that we believe or pay attention to. At some point, I ask myself why do I need all this info feed to me in the face? Granted that sometimes it's really helpful to get some info about a friend, whether local or overseas, for instant, the San Antonio conference. But for most part, it's just useless info or ranting from people. In this information overload society, do you need more info to fill your already flooded mind? I've got my email, whatsapp group chat, newspaper and more to take care already.
For me the answer is no. I use to think that I'll stay on FB so that I can connect with friends oversea. Very legitimate reason but how often does that happen. Besides, there are many other mode of communication.
And so, I'll like to announce my departure from the world most popular website (According to FB themselves).
I also realise that I blog less largely due to FB. Now that I'm leaving FB, I think the frequency of my blog would actually go up! Look, I understand that blogging is also a public image of me but the big difference is this- I can't and I wouldn't make you read them. It doesn't get feed into your computer screen or anywhere. If you ever read my blog, I can be assured it is out of your own accord. Btw, I'd appreciate if you like my blog, if you don't, it's no big deal.
In conclusion, welcome to my blog where you are free to read up on my world. I wouldn't feel offended if you don't drop by. LOL!!!
